Gravel tour along the Old Rhine and through the Schollenmühle

Gravel Tour

Wonderful, flat gravel tour through the Schollenmühle nature reserve and the old Rhine - nature, history and quiet discoveries on secluded paths.

Wonderful flat gravel bike route through the Schollenmühle nature reserve, where you can still experience the times of the peat cutters up close. Today, it is home to several pairs of storks, which can be admired in flight at almost any time of year. After a leisurely ride along the Alpine Rhine, you enter the natural paradise of the Old Rhine. Following the straightening of the Alpine Rhine at the beginning of the 20th century, this remnant of the original course of the Rhine has been transformed into a natural paradise with many small paths, hidden bays and a variety of species. The highlight is the "Rohr zur Freiheit", a memorial to the less glorious period of the Second World War.
