Balgach indoor pool - swimming fun for the whole family

The Balgach indoor pool offers fun and relaxation for young and old all year round. With a 25-metre sports pool, a multi-purpose pool and a teaching pool, there is something for swimmers of all levels.

A special highlight is the 58-metre-long water slide with light effects, which provides plenty of action. For the youngest visitors, there is a children's paddling pool with a water mushroom that guarantees fun.

In addition to free swimming, Balgach swimming pool offers various swimming courses for children and adults as well as aqua-fit courses for a full-body workout that is easy on the joints.

The indoor pool is centrally located and easily accessible by car or public transport. There are plenty of parking spaces available nearby, so nothing stands in the way of a relaxed swimming experience.

House of Wine Berneck

Experience the diversity of St.Gallen wines under one roof.

In Berneck, the largest wine-growing municipality in the canton of St. Gallen, the House of Wine with its striking roof has been open to guests since October 2018. Every Saturday from 11 am to 8 pm, the fascinating variety of St. Gallen wines can be discovered here and tasted to your heart's content. A total of 20 winemakers take advantage of the stylish platform and present around 100 wines from the Rhine Valley, Sarganserland/Walensee and Lake Zurich regions. And of course, your favorite wines and other fine products from the region can be purchased on site.

The scenic diversity of the canton of St. Gallen allows for a surprising selection of varieties that are cultivated in 30 wine-growing communities. From the classics Pinot noir and Müller-Thurgau to trendy PIWI varieties such as Cabernet Jura or Johanniter. Excellently trained winegrowers use the natural advantages of the location to produce wines that are now absolutely competitive at international competitions.

Swimming / SUP Old Rhine Diepoldsau

The Old Rhine at the Diepoldsauer Durchstich is part of the old riverbed of the Rhine in the St. Gallen and Vorarlberg Rhine Valley, which was cut off when the course of the river was straightened as part of the Rhine regulation.

Today, this part is perfect for a day of swimming on the natural beach or a short trip on a stand-up paddleboard.

Altenrhein Aviation Museum

The Fliegermuseum Altenrhein (FMA) is a flying aviation museum at Altenrhein airfield in the canton of St. Gallen. The mission of the Altenrhein Aviation Museum is to keep historical and modern, military and civilian aircraft, especially those related to Swiss aviation and the Swiss Air Force in particular, airworthy and present them in the air.

Altenrhein Market Hall (Hundertwasser House)

Gilded onion domes, bright colors, curved lines, uneven windows, uneven floors, colorful ceramic columns, shady walkways and green roofs are the characteristics of Friedensreich Hundertwasser's architecture. He wanted to eliminate all uniformity, sterility and anonymity in his architecture. His dream and his goal was to create a humane environment for the individual and at the same time to restore nature to its rightful place.

Like many other famous buildings in Europe and Japan, the building in Altenrhein is an impressive example of the internationally renowned artist's unusual architectural concepts.

Widnau ice rink

Icy times await you in the ice rink. Whether ice hockey, figure skating, training camps or simply ice skating - the Rheintal ice rink is the ideal place for it. You can warm up again in the bistro.

Schollenmühle Altstätten

The former peat factory is located in the Bannriet nature reserve. The Schollenmühle and the information center are well worth a visit.

The Schollenmühle is a former peat factory whose oldest buildings date back to 1918. For eighty years, peat was mined in Bannriet and processed into peat dust and special soils in the Schollenmühle before it finally ceased operations in 1998.

Altstätten observation tower

From the observation tower in the nature reserve, you can enjoy the unique view and experience the view from a bird's eye perspective.

The tower is located on an eight-kilometer circular route through the Schollenriet. 13 information cubes along the walk draw attention to the small and large sights in the area. The observation tower halfway along the trail offers extensive views of the Rhine valley plain and the mountain panorama all year round. In addition, animal observations and insights into the protected area are possible even when the vegetation is high. Waterfowl, brown hares and other inhabitants of the reserve can be easily observed from here.

The observation tower is located in the middle of a large no-driving zone. Private vehicles must be parked outside in authorized parking spaces.
